The 2nd Annual First Responders Night took place on May 20th, hosted by the Richmond Kickers Pro Soccer Club. Bensley Bermuda made an appearance and was represented by members Nikhil Chandravel, Surya Gara, Kalana Hair, and Victoria Borshch. All first responders were recognized during half-time, along with Richmond Ambulance Authority, Hanover Fire, Richmond Police, Richmond Fire, and Chesterfield Fire. The RVA community had the opportunity to tour our ambulances and check out where all our equipment was located. They were able to watch a live CPR demonstration on Manny the dummy and learned about our LUCAS device. Kids were given the chance to try out the lights and sirens on the ambulance and had a great time observing EMS in action. “The interaction with the kids was amazing; they were all so bright and had so many questions they wanted to know anything and everything about what we do and what everything is it truly was amazing having those conversations with the up-and-coming youth!” - Kalana Hair
“The community outreach part was nice, interacting with the denizens of RVA. It was very cool showing everyone the front, back, what/where everything was located, and the LUCAS on the dummy.” - Surya Gara Everyone was engaged and thrilled to learn about the ins and outs of emergency medicine as well as how technology and equipment are incorporated into healthcare procedures today. BBVRS served to provide a phenomenal overview of the behind-the-scenes of our EMS system!
